PSG Withdraw from Yan Diomande Race as Real Madrid Close In on €100m Transfer

Paris Saint-Germain have officially ended their pursuit of highly rated winger Yan Diomande, clearing the path for Real Madrid to complete one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and reports from Marca, Real Madrid reached an agreement with RB Leipzig on Sunday evening for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international. While the final transfer fee has not been officially confirmed, the deal is expected to exceed €100 million, with Leipzig previously holding out for as much as €150 million.

Diomande is expected to travel to Madrid this week to complete his medical and sign a long-term contract until 2031, with personal terms already agreed.

PSG Issue Strong Statement

Paris Saint-Germain had remained in the race for Diomande until the final stages of negotiations. However, the French champions confirmed on Sunday that they had withdrawn their interest, releasing a strongly worded statement explaining their decision.

The club said: “PSG officially withdrew their interest in Yan Diomande as well as their bids this evening. The demanded transfer fee and salary expectations were completely disproportionate. PSG will not abandon their principles of rational financial management as well as a balanced squad structure.”

Rapid Rise at RB Leipzig

Diomande only joined RB Leipzig in 2025 from CD Leganés for €20 million, signing a contract until 2030. His debut season was outstanding, producing 15 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

World Cup Performances Boosted Value

The teenager also impressed on the international stage with Ivory Coast at the FIFA World Cup. Diomande started regularly throughout the tournament, registering one assist in four matches while delivering several eye-catching performances. Ivory Coast’s campaign ended in the Round of 32 following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Norway, but Diomande’s displays further enhanced his growing reputation.
