Aston Villa are preparing a £30 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal, with Unai Emery identifying the 19-year-old as his No.1 transfer target this summer.
Marc Bernal enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, making 33 appearances and scoring five goals in all competitions as Hansi Flick guided Barcelona to the La Liga title.
The Barcelona boss reportedly views Marc Bernal as a key player for the club’s future, with the midfielder being internally labelled “untouchable” despite growing interest from across Europe.
Barcelona have already rejected offers worth around £25 million, believing Marc Bernal’s talent cannot be replaced in the current transfer market.
Despite that stance, Emery remains determined to land his fellow Spaniard and has asked Aston Villa to make an official approach. The Europa League winners are currently leading the race for his signature.
Manchester City also made an enquiry for Bernal as they look to refresh their midfield amid speculation linking Rodri with Real Madrid, but Barcelona quickly rejected their interest.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are also keeping close tabs on the teenager. Arsenal have monitored him for some time, United have sent scouts to watch him, while Chelsea and Atletico are waiting to see if Barcelona soften their stance.
Bernal joined Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy at the age of six and progressed through the ranks alongside Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, establishing himself as one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in European football.
