Hull City Boss Sergej Jakirovic Reveals Scale of Transfer Hunt as Premier League Preparations Continue

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has revealed the sheer scale of the club’s transfer search.

Sergej Jakirovic has joked that every time he opens his phone, there’s another 80 potential new signings ready and waiting to join Hull City. as the Tigers work to strengthen their squad before the new Premier League season.

Despite signing four players this summer, injuries continue to disrupt Hull’s preparations, leaving goalkeeper Jack Butland as the only fully fit new arrival. Jakirovic has stressed the urgency of adding quality reinforcements with the top-flight campaign now just over two weeks away.

Hull are expected to confirm the signings of goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis and defender Nobel Mendy in the coming days, while negotiations continue for Colorado Rapids defender Lucas Herrington and Tromso midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl. Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam also remains on the club’s shortlist.

Speaking about the transfer activity, Jakirovic admitted the club is assessing a huge number of targets.

“If I open my phone, I have 80 players inside, so we can comment on all players, but they are all very interesting players, and we will see how many we can finish,” he said.

The Hull boss also highlighted the club’s ongoing injury concerns, with several first-team players unavailable during the recent pre-season friendly against Kasimpasa. He reiterated that new signings are needed as quickly as possible to give them time to settle before the Premier League opener.

Jakirovic also praised incoming defender Nobel Mendy, describing the left-footed centre-back as quick, composed on the ball, and experienced in Spain’s top flight—qualities he believes will strengthen Hull City’s defensive unit for the challenges ahead.
