Barcelona will face FC Basel in Switzerland on Sunday in their penultimate pre-season fixture of the summer. The friendly was arranged after their planned trip to Morocco to face Ittihad Tanger was cancelled.
Anthony Gordon Receives First Barcelona Call-Up
The major headline from Hansi Flick’s squad announcement is the inclusion of new signing Anthony Gordon. The England international, who returned to training earlier this week following his World Cup break, has impressed the coaching staff and could make his unofficial Barcelona debut against Basel.
Several Spain internationals have also returned to the squad, with Joan Garcia, Dani Olmo, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia and Lamine Yamal all included.
Pedri and Gavi Miss Out
Pedri will not travel to Switzerland as he continues an individual training programme and has yet to rejoin full team training. Gavi has also been left out of the squad.
Jules Kounde has been included despite ongoing speculation over his future amid reported interest from Arsenal.
Barcelona have also called up several young players, including Eder Aller, Brian Farinas, Orian Goren, Jordi Pesquer, Xavi Espart, Alvaro Cortes, Jesse Bisiwu, Ebrima Tunkara and Hamza Abdelkarim.
Meanwhile, Marc Casado, Aron Yaakobishvili, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Guille and Toni Fernandez will remain in Barcelona as they work on potential exits from the club.
With Gordon set for his first involvement and several key players returning, the Basel clash will provide Flick with another important opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the new season.
